Passports

Travellers from Canada: You will probably need to get a passport to travel to the US. Alternatively, you can bring three forms of ID including your birth certifcate.

Flight Information

There are many different air carriers into the area and four airports to choose from. Suggested low-cost carriers in the US are Continental, Southwest and JetBlue. Suggested low-cost carriers flying from Canada are Cathay Pacific and Continental.

The major airports that are close to New York City are John F. Kennedy INTL (JFK) which lands in New York, Laguardia INTL (LGA) which also lands New York, Newark INTL (EWR) which lands in Newark New Jersey.

Alternatively, you can land in Long Island Islip Macarthur Airport (ISP) which is halfway up Long Island and is actually closer to East Hampton. Flights are limited though as it is a small airport. Southwest is the major carrier to that airport.

From Portland (PDX):

Continental - $328 (USD) 1 stop to Laguardia (LGA)
Jet Blue - $348 (USD) Nonstop to John F Kennedy (JFK)
Southwest - PRICES NOT YET AVAILABLE to Islip (ISP)

From Vancouver BC (YVR) to Laguardia (LGA):

Cathay Pacific - $448 (USD) or $516(CAD) Nonstop
Continental - $473(USD) or $544 (CAD) 1 stop

Ground Transportation:

East Hampton is approximately 2.5 hours away from New York City by Bus or Car or 5.5 hours by train. The Long Island RailRoad leaves about twice daily from the city and the Jitney Bus travel daily from NYC to East Hampton. Alternatively, cars can be rented from each airport. I will post periodic deals on rental cars.

Please note that traffic is quite bad in the summer and all wedding guests should allot at least twice as much time for travelling (except for train). The reception is NOT in East Hampton, but close by in Montauk. Although this commute is only 17 miles away, it might take up to an hour to fight through all the traffic. Plan accordingly.
